What is the best way to remove a wallpaper border? I pulled it off and the backing is still stuck. Advice?

I used to hang wallpaper..... spray the left over border with water. Let it soak in for about 5 -10 min and it should fall right off with little effort. Most of the adhesives are water-based and will reactivate when water is added. Make sure you wipe off the remaining adhesive (while wet) with a towel so that you don't leave any on the walls. If it's not a water-based adhesive..... sorry, but you'll probably have to break out the sandpaper and sand it down so you can repaint or rehang more paper. What is the best way to remove a wallpaper border? That actually is the proper way to remove wall paper. At homedepot and Lowes they carry a product called Diff, spray that on to the paper that was left, let it sit for a minute or two and then scrape it off with a putty knife or any kind of scraper.

We just flipped a house and it had wall paper in the bedrooms, living room, kitchen and hallway.

Diff really is a good product, it works great.

There is a wall paper remover spray, it works miracles.
Plain hot water works well too! Just heat it, put it in a spray bottle and let it soak a bit. I find you can add a little 409 and it works wonders as well.
I have used the water bottle, be very careful if you are scraping. you can scrape the walls which will mean more work...Just soak it good and most of the time it comes right off!!!
Rent a wallpaper remover. It steams the paper off the wall.
Cheapest way is to wet it with a sponge and some nice warm soapy water... when it's ready to be scraped off it will come off quite easily. To put the water on the paper backing another good way is to use a spray bottle. Happy peeling!
Score the border with a scoring tool that you can purchase at most hardware or home improvement centers. You may not have to do this, since you have already removed most of the paper. Then, mix three or four capfuls of fabric softener with warm water (6 qarts), then sponge it on. wait a few minutes, and the border should peel right off. Very little cost, and it smells great!
Lots of work. I will not purchase a home based on whether it has borders or not. Try a spray bottle with ';wallpaper remover'; stuff purchased at your local home store, Home Depot, Menards, etc. and get ready to scrape.
Try spraying it well with water and let it soak in. A hand sprayer or squirt bottle will work here. The paper backing on those borders can be relatively easy to remove once they are wet if the paint underneath was good to begin with. A stiff brush or plastic scraper will help.

You can buy a product called DIF at Wal-mart or probably any other home store. It comes in a spray bottle and works great. Simply spray on, wait a few minutes and it wipes off. You can also sponge the area until damp and it will often come up with just water. It also helps if you use a scraper.

Hope this helps
Take a sponge or wet towel and soak it good. Soak the entire surface of the border well before you pull it off gently. Then, if there's any excess stuck to the wall, soak that too, and it should peel off. Just a very cheap way to do so.
Mix ammonia and water. Wipe on with a sponge and it should peel right off. Any residue left behind can be scrubed of with the damp sponge.
