I live in California.I like to start a Subway sandwich business. Can anyone advice me what are the criteria for that?
First and foremost, you'll have to provide your own capital. Although Subway will negotiate prices with approved vendors that can provide you with what you need, you will be financially responsible for paying for the building, remodeling, utilities, equipment, food/paper products, labor, insurance, etc.
You will have to complete a training seminar to ensure you are familiar with the brand name's products and procedures. These are offered at various locations around the globe year round. A few supplemental online courses either are or will soon be required as well.
You will be under a contract to follow very specific guidelines explained in the operations manual, plus any market area specifications. There is no room for negotiation regarding these rules, you comply or you don't. An independently employed restaurant consultant will visit your store irregularly, at least once per calendar month, to conduct a thorough evaluation to make sure you are meeting the criteria. Regular noncompliance can result in your franchisee contract being terminated, meaning you loose the rights to operate the store.I like to start a Subway sandwich business. Enough finance to run it without profit for 2 years would ensure your success. Most small businesses run at a loss for two years and go bust.
a butt load of money for franchising rights, and a store front.
