Why do people give the advice, ';Follow your heart'; when it should be, ';Follow your brain';?

Are some people's hearts smarter than their brains? It sounds like bad advice to me. Your comments? Why do people give the advice, ';Follow your heart'; when it should be, ';Follow your brain';?
Because people that give this silly bit of advice always assume that all people have morals and ethics, making them good hearted people.

I always prefer to follow my genitals. They haven't steered me wrong yet!Why do people give the advice, ';Follow your heart'; when it should be, ';Follow your brain';?
Really you should follow neither. If you always follow your heart, you will always make stupid and irrational decisions. Following your brain is always more rational, but then you never take risks and life can be a little boring. I tend to follow my gut. My instincts are usually pretty good and other times following your gut can lead you to a tasty culinary delicacy.
If you just listen to your heart and use your head, you'll never be wrong.

Edit:

About following your brain.. I am not sure...

A mother is washing her 5 yo boy and he asks when she is washing his testicles: Is this my brain? And the mother replies: Not for another 10 years.
if you listen to that voice in yourself (heart or brain) your 'gut instinct' will help you out a lot, but too many people are out of touch with that. if something seems wrong, it's because it is.
Because people are stupid, and make horrible choices when it comes to relationships. People know how they feel about someone, but they'd rather play head games. So you gotta follow your heart, but use your brain.
Because to follow your brain would mean you miss the good stuff !! If you're always safe and rational you never take a risk and you miss out !!
people over- use stupid cliches.
